Trauma Healing for Mind Body Heart and Spirit
Connecting to the Moment, Healing Trauma, and Discovering your True Self.
Our focus is providing a safe place for anyone seeking a holistic, integrated, and spiritually informed approach to healing trauma.
About Our Approach to Trauma
Dr Peter Levine ~ “I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening – a portal opening to emotional and genuine spiritual transformation.”
These profound words by Peter Levine echo the central goal of our approach. Supporting people to not only heal and recover from trauma – but to thrive, using it as a doorway to growth and development on all levels mind, body, heart, and spirit.
Meet Your Guide
A message psychologist Dean Smith.
“We are witnessing a radical shift in the paradigms that underpin the conceptualisation and treatment of mental health and trauma. Over the last 30 years I have had a special interest in approaching mental health and trauma from a holistic perspective. It has always seemed to me to be the most affective and logical approach. Attend to all aspects of my client’s experience, their Mind, Body, Heart, and Spirit is not a luxury but a necessity for deep transformation and healing. I have watch with great enthusiasm, joy, and excitement to see the rise in popularity of master therapists like Gabor Mate, Peter Levine, Bessel van der Kolk, Hameed Ali (A. H. Almaas), Stephen Porges, and Richard C. Schwartz. Finally, we are seeing an approach to people’s pain and suffering that is clear, integrated, holistic and spiritually informed. I look forward to meeting you and seeing where our work takes us!”

Our goal is Post Traumatic Growth!

About Our Approach
We approach Trauma healing and recovery differently!
The effects of trauma are devastating and long lasting, affecting all aspects of a person’s experience. Therefore, any treatment approach needs to address the far-reaching impact trauma has on the mind, body, heart, and spirit. When working with us you will notice the difference straight way. We begin by establishing safety, meeting you exactly where you are at and providing you with an integrated and holistic plan. This plan will take you from Post-Traumatic Stress to Post Traumatic Growth.
What is Healing Trauma?
Trauma affects every part of the human psyche. Therefore, any attempt to transform trauma must attend to the whole person!
There are many different healing steps one needs to make in their trauma healing journey. Bessel van der Kolk in his book “The Body Keeps the Score”, was one of the first practitioners to clearly articulate the need for a holistic approach that utilises different therapies at different stages of the trauma healing journey.
For example, he has demonstrated why traditional western psychological therapies and psychotherapies don’t work well for most people at the beginning of their trauma healing journeys. This is because there is often very little balance and resilience within the autonomic nervous system. Van der kolk argues that the initial step in therapy requires a body based nervous system focus. Using therapies like Neurofeedback, Tapping, Somatic Experiencing, Yoga, and Meditation to stabilise the nervous system. Only once this has been achieved can more traditional psychotherapies be useful.
"The single most important issue for traumatized people is to find a sense of safety in their own bodies." ~ Dr Bessel van der Kolk
“Most of what we call personality is not a fixed set of traits, only a coping mechanism a person acquired in childhood” ~Dr Gabor Mate`
The Process of Working with us
Firstly, we will take the time to talk to you briefly over the phone. This is to identify if we are a good fit and determine if you are ready for the healing journey in front of you.
A holistic assessment is the next step. This is designed to identify where you are in your healing journey, promote safety, rapport and start building resources. A clear and detailed plan can then be developed, mutually agreed upon and implemented.
In order to take a more spiritually oriented holistic approach to your trauma healing we need to use different therapies at different stages of your healing. This needs to be done with the one-to-one support of someone you can trust, feel safe with, and has the experience and skills necessary to help you transform your trauma. Where appropriate we also utilise group work and self-directed educational material.
If that sounds like what you are looking for get in touch and we can talk further.
